Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition where a person has obsessive thoughts and compulsive activity.
An obsession is an unwanted and unpleasant thought, image or urge that repeatedly enters a person’s mind, causing feelings of anxiety, disgust or unease.
A compulsion is a repetitive behaviour or mental act that someone feels they need to carry out to try to relieve the unpleasant feelings brought on by the obsessive thought.
For example, someone with a fear of their house being burgled may feel they need to check all the windows and doors are locked several times before they can leave the house.
How does Hypnotherapy help?
OCD is a pattern of behaviour that has built up in the subconscious mind, first, there is the obsession, which then triggers the compulsive behaviour and this cycle of events is built up in the subconscious mind.
Because Hypnosis works at a subconscious level where all the associated links and behaviour takes place the subconscious mind is able to control these links between the obsession and the compulsion in ways that the conscious mind cannot.
Using hypnosis I can talk directly to the unconcious mind and change the associated links that have been the trigger to the problem and bring the unconcious mind into line with your concious pattern of thinking and behaviour.
As we are dealing directly with the unconscious mind directly using hypnosis this treatment can be much more effective and quicker than other therapies.
